A-List Tools & Gadgets:
If you can’t see it, you won’t eat it. So, stop letting food get lost in the refrigerator and start using glass containers. BPA free, freezer, microwave and oven-proof. Trust me, these will help you cut down on wasted food and help you reach for healthier snacks at the same time.
A sure-fire way to get healthy snacks into your kid’s mouths when they walk in the door after school and activities. Prep ahead when you have time and leave this platter on the table while you go about the rest of your day. The ice below keeps everything fresh so you can leave it out on the table for hours. The minute they walk in the door, they’ll SEE the nutritious snacks and I swear to you, they will start eating.
The Paderno Vegetable Spiralizer arrived this summer in time to start making zucchini “pasta” noodles! I can’t tell you how glad I am to have this tool in my kitchen. I also made squiggly sweet potato fries with it. A huge hit with my kids!
I use my Microplane two to three times a week. This user-friendly tool makes grating cheese, zesting lemons and limes and grating spices like nutmeg a snap! And it’s so much less bulky than a typical tower cheese grater (do you ever use all four sides anyway?!)
Making your own nut milk is not as complicated as you think. A good blender, raw organic almonds and a nut milk bag are all your need (and some water!). Here are the reusable the bags I use. Haven’t had to thrown one away yet and I’ve been making my own almond milk for a year now!
Once you’ve made your own nut milk, you’ll probably never go back to the store-bought kind. I love Terra Soul organic raw almonds and buying them in bulk saves money.
Nibmor Dark Chocolate
This chocolate is gluten-free, organic, Free Trade and non-GMO. But more importantly, it’s delicious. It’s not cheap, but certainly something to treat yourself to. I’m thinking one of these bars would make an excellent stocking stuffer or give the entire box as an awesome Christmas gift to a foodie friend. Try the different flavors-mint is my favorite!
SuperSeedz Gourmet Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkin seeds are a great source of protein (1/4 cups gives you 10 grams of protein!) and high in zinc. Zinc is going to give your immune system a boost and head off those nasty winter colds. I love putting the Roasted Sea Salt ones in my salads but they are a great snack too. Try to Coco Joe flavor-you won’t regret it!
